Following the release of their critically acclaimed fourth album I Got Heaven. Four-piece band Mannequin Pussy have embarked on a tour across North America and Europe. Stopping off at Glasgow’s iconic venue King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.
While the North American leg featured support from fellow punk rising stars Soul Glo. The UK leg has been treated to support from TTSSFU.
The Support Act – TTSSFU
Hailing from Manchester and equipped with a love heart shaped guitar. TTSSFU (Tasmin Nicole Stevens) perfectly complimented Mannequin Pussy’s slower songs. While their songs are available on all platforms, TTSSFU demand to be listened to live. The shoe-gaze filled set drenched the room in noise creating a wave of blown-out/distorted guitars that was impossible to ignore.

In classic shoe-gaze fashion the lyrics were barely audible with all instruments being mixed much higher than the vocals. This does not have a negative effect on the experience however, TTSSFU’s attitude and cadence told us everything we needed to know.
While what TTSSFU is doing is certainly not anything ground-breaking, they have crafted an extremely enjoyable listening experience. Utilising every aspect of their instruments and voices to create an ethereal vibe.
The Main Event
Mannequin Pussy played songs spanning all of their albums but mainly focused on their latest, playing fan favourites like Loud Bark, I Got Heaven, Sometimes, I Don’t Know You just to name a few. They began their set with I Don’t Know You and for the first half mainly played their slower songs before transitioning into some of their more intense tracks.
The band mainly transition from song to song rarely speaking to the crowd. When they did, the lead singer (Marisa Dabice) spoke almost in whispers commanding the crowd to scream almost like a witch casting a spell on us.
Dabice was easily the standout of the band with her energetic vocals and equally as energetic dancing. She managed to balance a mix of screeching for the fast, loud tracks and intimate singing for the slower songs.
Dabice was not the only stand out though. All of the band members came with high energy, especially Colins Regisford who donned the bass and even took the mic and was front man for a song.
The Band truly channel the appeal of their latest album in their live performance. They know exactly what they’re going for and exactly how to execute it. Many bands/artists mistake a performance as simply playing songs live. A true performance is not just playing live, but embodying your songs and your message, and that is exactly what Mannequin Pussy did. For this performance – they were the music.
Mannequin Pussy are one of the most exciting acts in rock at the moment and their latest album is one of the best of the year. This performance proved that they deserve all the recent praise.
