Stirling Uni made it three wins from three to continue their dominance in the BUCS league, running out 4-1 winners once again.
The match had a fast, frantic start with both sides trying to implement their way into the game. Much alike to Stirling’s last match, Luc Hermsen’s aerial balls caused Glasgow problems.
Between four to seven minutes of the first quarter Stirling mounted a lot of pressure. They forced the Glasgow keeper into some good saves after three Stirling short corners.
On around eight minutes Stirling won another short corner after a great driving run from Luc Hermsen. In came the injection and Robbie Forrest’s deflection found the goal giving Stirling a deserved 1-0 lead.
Stirling continued their dominance with another short corner on 12 minutes, the strong shot was saved. This was followed by a long aerial pass on 14 minutes which found the back post before being squared across goal and put wide.
Glasgow grew back into the match on around 16 minutes. Glasgow’s left-sided defender caused Stirling a lot of problems with his technical ability, running power and long accurate aerial passes.
The first quarter finished with Stirling having great control of the match.
The second quarter started with Glasgow on top and with control. They had a short corner three minutes in which was saved followed by a rebound which was also saved.
On around six minutes Glasgow equalised. A ball across the D was cut out by the goalkeeper however the rebound was knocked in.
As the second quarter grew on Glasgow looked the likelier to score another however nothing came of the pressure.
A Stirling aerial on 16 minutes resulted in a short corner for the home side, with the short corner almost being deflected in. Glasgow then went on the counter after some late Stirling pressure, however nothing came of it and was defended well.
As the second quarter came to a close, Luc Hermsen’s great run down the left was followed by a brilliant reverse ball across goal. However, there were no takers.
In the third quarter, Glasgow had a short corner on five minutes. Stirling saved it after a well-worked move from Glasgow, with the ball eventually being scrambled to safety.
On eight minutes Stirling managed to score a crucial second goal. Luc Hermsen started a brilliant counter attack driving forward before the ball went left and was played back inside to Hermsen who tapped in.
After the second goal Stirling had a flurry of attacking moves. A quick shot in the D was saved by the Glasgow keeper before a Stirling man went down and a short corner was given on 12 minutes. The shot was saved by the keeper before the ball came back out and a reverse shot was saved.
Good work from Fraser Allan in the D before his reverse shot just went wide of the Glasgow goal on around 16 minutes.
Glasgow had a short corner after good play down their left hand side on around 17 minutes. The shot was ultimately saved.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter Stirling scored a third goal. Ben Young’s shot was deflected off the keeper and went into the goal, giving Stirling a priceless two goal lead in the final quarter.
Shortly later Stirling added a fourth goal from a short corner on nine minutes. Hermsen’s fake shot was rolled into the path of Robbie Forrest who fired in to make it 4-1.
As Glasgow looked to make a recovery through a short corner, the shot was saved by Stirling keeper Finn Sayers.
Shortly later the match came to a close, confirming Stirling of another convincing victory in the BUCS league, replicating their scoreline last time out against Heriot-Watt. Next time out Stirling will face the University of Edinburgh 2s at home on 6 November.
