First Quarter:

The game started at a fast pace, with both teams displaying strong, quick passing.

However, neither side was able to gain a clear advantage throughout the quarter, with play being quick but not leading to any finished plays.

St Andrews had a few misplaced passes that led to quick conversations by Stirling, but they couldn’t capitalise to secure a goal.

Despite the intensity, the quarter ended goalless, with both teams still searching for a breakthrough.


Second Quarter:

Stirling stepped up their game in the second quarter and began to take control, with the.

The breakthrough came at the 24th minute; Fraser Allen found the net with a shot that tore through the back to put Stirling ahead 1-0.

Just two minutes later, Stirling converted, and a poor tackle from St. Andrews gave Stirling a short corner. Luke Hermsen drag flicked for the shot, bouncing off the keeper’s foot it found the back of the net, doubling their lead to 2-0.

With momentum on their side, Stirling continued to apply pressure, while St Andrews struggled to respond, shelling up under Stirling’s advances and playing slow and safe.


Third Quarter:

Stirling continued to dominate after the break, dictating the tempo and shutting down St. Andrews’ attempts to attack.

A crucial save from Finn Sayers in the 38th minute preserved their two-goal cushion.

St Andrews failed to have any real goal-scoring chances, while Stirling’s relentless energy ensured they remained on top, battering St Andrews’s backline and tiring them out.


Fourth Quarter:

Sayers made another crucial save to prevent St. Andrews from fighting back, another of many class saves throughout the game.

Stirling then managed to up their tempo in the final quarter, battering St. Andrews defence, and while they didn’t secure another goal, it wasn’t from a lack of chances.

In the 53rd minute, Sayers gave St. Andrews a crucial penalty when he slid through and wiped out one of their players.

St Andrews managed their first comeback goal with a clean shot to the left, making it 2-1.

Stirling managed the game well in the closing stages, maintaining their defensive discipline and ensuring St. Andrews had no chance to come back.

Even despite St. Andrews taking off their keeper to drive the offence, Stirling still showed greater attacking force.


With the final whistle blown, the pitch erupted in celebration. The majority of the men’s hockey club was there in support, reinforcing the tight-knit bond that defines Stirling hockey.

This camaraderie has been a crucial factor in the team’s success, pushing them to new heights throughout the season, with their strong performance seeing them secure a strong 2-1 victory.

For his incredible saving throughout the match, Sayer was named Man of the Match, his crucial saves proving vital in Stirling’s victory.

With this victory, Stirling not only finished as league champions but also cleared the competition with points to spare; their focus now shifts to the promotion play-offs.
