STIRLING 2s… 18
ABERTAY 1s… 0

Stirling’s Men’s 2s made the perfect start to their BUCS campaign with a dominant 18–0 victory over Abertay 1s at home at Gannochy.

The visitors arrived with just ten players, and Stirling were quick to take advantage, setting the tone from the opening whistle with intensity throughout the four quarters and aggressive attacking play.

Within minutes the breakthrough came, and the goals continued to flow throughout the match.

Mark Harley was the standout performer, putting in an impressive double hat-trick with six goals.

He was ably supported by Finlay Jack, who scored four times, and Alex Rea, who completed a hat-trick of his own.

Further goals came from Cameron Silva, Eoghan “Brick” Cook, Ewan McCartney, Robert Chalmers and Tom Owen, all adding to the final score.

Stirling dominated possession and kept the Abertay defence under constant pressure, forcing errors and creating opportunities back-to-back.

Stirling’s intensity in the press and composure in midfield ensured that Abertay rarely crossed the halfway line, while their defence stayed alert to preserve the clean sheet.

Vice-captain Oscar Hughes reflected on the match afterwards, emphasising both the positives and the challenges ahead:

“Obviously an 18–0 win is always a great outcome. We had a lot of the new freshers score some goals for us which is always good for team morale as well as getting them integrated into the team.”

“Obviously we had the extra man to our advantage, which definitely helped and we know there is a lot we need to improve on for the upcoming games because a lot of them won’t be as easy as this one.”

It was a ruthless display and a clear statement of intent from the 2s, as they don’t want goal difference to hold them back from promotion again.

Now they turn their attention to next week’s trip away north to face Aberdeen 3s. Who were just beaten 2-0 by Stirling’s Men’s 3s. Confidence will be high as they look to maintain this momentum and continue their winning start.
