Looking forward to Jah Wobble & The Invaders of the Heart – Preview

3 mins read

On Thursday, the 30th of October, I will proudly be attending an incredibly special music event at the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh. As one of the newest writers to join the Brig newspaper team, I am scheduled to watch a fantastic concert being put on by Jah Wobble & The Invaders of the Heart, and this is something that I’m really excited to take part in.

Jah Wobble’s Invaders of the Heart was formed in 1982. The original line-up was Ollie Marland on keys (who went on to become Tina Turner’s musical director), Annie Whitehead on trombone, Neville Murray on percussion, and a musician named only as Cliff, on drums. By 1983, Lee Partis was the drummer.

John Joseph Wardle, known by the stage name Jah Wobble, is an English bass guitarist and singer. He became known to a wider audience as the original bass player in Public Image Ltd in the late 1970s and early 1980s; he left the band after two albums. Following his departure from PiL, he developed a solo career.

Having grown up in a highly remote and isolated island community, I’ve been rather sheltered from quite a lot of this culture, as it is significantly more difficult to access these kinds of activities in the local area where I come from. So, this is a very new experience for me, and one that I pledge to hugely appreciate, engage with, and immerse myself in from the start to the finish.

I have been tasked with reviewing the next concert that this band will be performing in, something that will require me to take a nightly trip to Scotland’s capital city later this week. According to the information that you can find online, this highly impressive attraction begins at 8 pm on Thursday, the 30th, after doors open for the show at 7:30 pm.

After all the performances come to an end, I will head back home to my on-campus accommodation at the University of Stirling and begin working on the review of what I saw and am already expecting to be truly breathtaking. I really can’t wait to get stuck into what else there is to see and do in a place that I would already regard as being one of the world’s most amazing cities. Please read my review of the show when it comes out, hopefully on Friday of this week.
