BRAW/AITA – Killing My Friends Plants

3 mins read

BRAW’s new column, AITA provides anonymous advice to your anonymous confessions. Who is in the wrong in these situations?

Todays Confession:

AITA for secretly killing my friend’s plants? She is currently mad at me for seeing a guy she does not like, she has told me why and it is a made up reason (I’ve looked into it), so she no longer speaks to me but we are in the same friend group and see each other often and she is being very petty. I have apologised to her multiple times and she was apparently over it until she started playing little pranks on the guy over the last few months among other uncalled for things towards me and I have had enough. One thing she’s obsessed with is her plants (that she has not been watering) so I’ve been watering them for her 😉 They are starting to die. RIP plants, you deserve a better owner anyway.

BRAW’s Opinion:

This is kind of a tricky one. In my experience, when your friends don’t like someone you’re dating, they usually only have your best intentions at heart. However, when they start pushing and not giving up once you’ve taken their opinion into account and decided to keep seeing them, it’s usually time for the friend to stop pushing themselves into a relationship they are not a part of.

Killing someone’s plants can be very mean if they love them more than anything but it sounds like your friend doesn’t care that much if they haven’t been watering them properly. Yes, sabotaging someone’s beloved plants is a dick move, but so is disrespecting your friend’s relationship. I think, if you’re not too close a friend to this person you just have to cut them off rather than continuing pissing them off. You are not the asshole, but it’s a fine line. What you decide to do next will determine your full asshole status.

What do you think? Are they in the wrong? Are we right in our opinion?
