ScrapAntics is a social justice enterprise with a charity shop dedicated to arts and craft supplies located in West Hendersons Wynd, Dundee.
The shop itself has anything you could ever need for crafting and DIY. You can find some really unique pieces across its two rooms and stories.
The shop has helped to make crafting sustainable by selling second-hand art supplies to its customers.
ScrapAntics and accessibility
ScrapAntics has not only made crafting sustainable, but also accessible to everyone with its incredibly affordable pricing. I personally had a haul of seven items for only £2.50.
The affordability of ScrapAntics is a great way for students to get stationary for studying, such as pens and notebooks.
It can also help students maintain or begin a crafting hobby which can often be inaccessible due to the price of supplies from popular chain craft stores.
An incredible shop for anyone crafty and on a budget.
ScrapAntics’ community work
ScrapAntics is not only an incredible shop to visit, but their team also do incredible work in the community.
The team host a variety of masterclasses and workshops based in Dundee. These are great for learning new skills and meeting new people.
They also work very closely with schools in their local area by promoting play using recycled materials as a way to improve health and wellbeing.
Their Loose Parts Play programme also provides training for anyone working with children to incorporate this kind of play effectively into learning.
ScrapAntics also has a family club which focusses on bringing people who may have just moved to Scotland and those who have lived here all their lives together.
Additionally, ScrapAntics runs a community wardrobe that runs on a no-questions-asked basis. This community wardrobe offers clothes for all ages as well as toiletries, food, and household goods.

ScrapAntics’ and the environment
At the heart of ScrapAntics’ work is deep care for not only the community but the environment through creative recycling.
When speaking to Brig, the ScrapAntics team shared that “All the waste we take in is either sold in our ScrapStore to fund our community projects or redistributed directly back to the community.
Over the last 10 years we’ve diverted 200 tonnes of waste from landfill!”
If you are looking for a day out where there is friendly staff, great music playing, and plentiful art supplies, ScrapAntics is the place to go.
It is close to the city centre, therefore accessible by public transport and a short walk.
