Man killed after being hit by car in Stirling city centre

A man has died after being hit by a car on Cowane Street late this morning.

The accident occurred at 10:40am when an 85-year-old man was hit by a grey Renault Megane. The man sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road has been closed off by Police and traffic has been diverted following the accident.

Inspector Andrew Thomson of Stirling’s Road Policing Unit said,

“We are supporting the man’s family at this time and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the collision.

“The area was busy at the time of the collision woth people shopping and i would ask anyone who may have seen what happened to contact us.”

Inspector Thomson has also called for any drivers who have dash-cam footage that could assist police to come forward.

Anyone with any information should contact the Road Policing team in Stirling using 101 and quoting incident 1066 of December 13 2019.
