New music releases of 2023

It is not far-fetched to state that 2022 witnessed many brilliant singles and albums from some of the greatest artists in the music industry, from Taylor Swift to Harry Styles. In 2023, we should expect nothing less than excellence.

However, albums for the later part of the year have yet to be announced or even speculated, but January to May are set to see many new albums. 

January

January 20

Måneskin – Rush!

The Eurovision winners are releasing their second studio album this year, with their debut Teatro d’ira – Vol. I having reached number 49 in the UK charts in 2021, but let’s see how well they do the second time around.

Mac Demarco – Five Easy Hot Dogs

Canadian singer-songwriter Mac Demarco is releasing his first album in three years after a small hiatus.

Each track is named after the city it was recorded in, due to Demarco creating the album on a road trip from LA to New York.

Paramore – this is why

This is the band’s sixth studio album and the first one following their five-year hiatus, with them already releasing the lead single the same day as the announcement on September 28.

Caroline Polachek – Desire, I Want To Turn Into You

This is the fourth upcoming album from the American singer-songwriter.

February 17

Inhaler – Cuts & Bruises

The four-piece indie rock band hailing from Dublin are set to release their sophomore album Cuts & Bruises on February 17.

Tracks on the album include Dublin in Ecstasy, When I Have Her On My Mind, Valentine and Perfect Storm.

February 24

Gorillaz – Cracker Island

The eighth studio album from the band is rumoured to have all featured collaborations with Stevie Nicks, Adeleye Omotayo, Thundercat, Tame Impala, Bad Bunny, Bootie Brown and Beck.

Miley Cyrus – Endless Summer Vacation

This is the eighth studio album from the American singer and she has already grabbed our attention by releasing her new single Flowers, a song about her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, on his birthday.

Lana Del Rey – Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd

Album number nine from Lana is one of the most anticipated albums of the year. The tracklist was revealed along with the album announcement, with tracks such as the Grants, sweet and Paris, Texas included.

Boygenius – The Record

Supergroup Boygenius announced on January 18 that they are reuniting and releasing their new album, The Record, after it was announced they would play Coachella. To announce the upcoming album, the trio recreated Nirvana’s iconic cover shoot for Rolling Stone for their own cover issue.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Atum: Act Three

Also rumoured to be releasing new music is Taylor Swift, who has been re-releasing her first six albums after they were sold off against her will.

Having re-released Fearless and Red so far, many fans have speculated that Speak Now or 1989 will be next.
