The 2024 Formula 1 season continues to showcase the unmatched talent of Max Verstappen, as the Dutch driver claimed another victory at the Qatar Grand Prix. Held at the Losail International Circuit on December 1, 2024, the race saw Verstappen extend his dominance in the 2024 championship, delivering a flawless performance under the floodlights of the desert to claim another victory in the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix.
Qatar started with another sprint race with Oscar Piastri claiming victory after Lando Norris the race leader for most of the sprint reversed positions with his teammate at the very last second as repayment for Sao Paulo where the Australian swapped in aid of Norris’s battle for the world championship.
The Losail circuit, known for its high-speed straights and demanding corners, provided the perfect stage for a thrilling contest at the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix. The race started with Verstappen in p1 followed by Russell, Norris, Piastri, and Leclerc. From the start, Verstappen demonstrated his dominance as world champion, executing a textbook-perfect launch off the line, quickly asserting his lead over the competition.
Race Incidents
The race saw three safety cars deployed and many incidents such as a 10-second stop-go penalty for Lando Norris as he failed to slow for a yellow flag which saw him drop down the order. The race started with a rough start with a safety car deployed on the first lap after Nico Hulkenberg taking out Franco Colapinto and Esteban Ocon.
Charles Leclerc took second place flowing 6.031 seconds after race leader Max Verstappen while Oscar Piastri took third place 6.819 seconds after Verstappen with Russell taking fourth place and Pierre Gasly coming from behind taking fifth place.
Once again, with the constructor’s championship with Ferrari is closing the gap between the top leaders of McLaren after the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix, with leaders McLaren having a total of 640 with Ferrari behind by 21 points at 619 with Red Bull behind with 581.

Finally, news from the end of Sunday night was announced by Alpine who confirmed that Jack Doohan is to race at the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi, with the team releasing Esteban Ocon in a deal that allows the Frenchman to participate in the post-season test for his new team of Hass alongside Ollie Bearman in 2025.
