A comprehensive overview of Trump’s Cabinet in his second term

What is a cabinet? A presidential cabinet is the official advisory body to the president of the United States. The cabinet can advise the president on policies and is generally responsible for the implementation of the president’sproposed policies, focusing on specific sectors of the nation, for example, a secretary of state would be responsible for foreign policy, and a secretary of education would be in control of public education. 

This is not to say that the cabinet has complete control, but they are limited to the other branches of the US government  (primarily the US legislature) who are also responsible for the passing, blocking or amending of proposed policies which the president will ultimately sign into law. 

Here’s the second cabinet of Donald Trump:

Secretary of State: Marco Rubio

Age: 53 State: Florida
Marco Rubio has held various positions of power in politics for over 20 years, serving as a U.S. Senator and playing a key role in foreign policy discussions.

 

Secretary of the Treasury: Scott Bessent

Age: 62 | State: South Carolina

Scott Bessent has decades long extensive experience in investing and hedge funds. 

 

Secretary of Defense: Pete Hegseth

Age: 44 State: Tennessee
Pete Hegseth is a former U.S. Army officer and Fox News presenter from 2014 to 2024. He has served as a senator since 2012.

 

Attorney General: Pam Bondi

Age: 59  State: Florida
Pam Bondi has been a state attorney since the mid-1990s and served as Florida’s Attorney General from 2011 to 2019, leading several high-profile legal battles.

 

Secretary of the Interior: Doug Burgum

Age: 68 State: North Dakota
Doug Burgum was the governor of North Dakota from 2016 to 2024 and a 2024 presidential candidate. He has also held leadership roles in major software companies like Microsoft since the 1980s.

 

Secretary of Agriculture: Brooke Rollins

Age: 52 State: Texas
Brooke Rollins served as President and CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation from 2003 to 2018, shaping conservative agricultural and economic policies.

Secretary of Commerce: Howard Lutnick

Age: 63 State: New York
Howard Lutnick has been the President and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald since 1991 and chairman of BGC Group since 2004, overseeing major financial markets.

 

Secretary of Labor: Lori Chavez-DeRemer

Age: 56 State: Oregon
Lori Chavez-DeRemer served as a U.S. Representative from 2023 to 2025 and was the Mayor of Happy Valley, Oregon, from 2011 to 2019.

 

Secretary of Health and Human Services: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Age: 71 State: California
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent 2024 presidential candidate, is an environmental activist and former chairman of Children’s Health Defense. RFK was the son of Robert Kennedy, brother of former president John F Kennedy. He is well known for his controversial stance on vaccines.

 

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Scott Turner

Age: 52 State: Texas
Scott Turner is a former NFL player and Texas state representative from 2013 to 2017. He also served as the Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council from 2019 to 2021.

Secretary of Transportation: Sean Duffy

Age: 53 State: Wisconsin
Sean Duffy is a former U.S. Representative from 2011–2019, a former Fox News personality, and a former district attorney.

 

Secretary of Energy: Chris Wright

Age: 60 State: Colorado
Chris Wright is the founder and CEO of Liberty Energy. He previously led Stroud Energy and Pinnacle Technologies.

 

Secretary of Education: Linda McMahon

Age: 76 State: Connecticut
Linda McMahon co-founded WWE and served as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term. She was also a Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in 2010 and 2012.

 

Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Doug Collins

Age: 57  State: Georgia
Doug Collins served as Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee (2019–2020) and was a U.S. Representative (2013–2021). He is also a Colonel in the USAir Force Reserve.

Secretary of Homeland Security: Kristi Noem

Age: 53 State: South Dakota
Kristi Noem has been the Governor of South Dakota since 2019. She previously served as a U.S. Representative from 2011 to 2019 and is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol.
