The fourth episode of The Baldwins focuses more on the family’s life in their East Hampton home, revealing additional details about Alec and Hilaria’s personal life.
Following the general theme of the series, this episode shows Alec’s seven kids off school for the summer at their Hamptons house while Alec and Hilaria continue to process events from the past three years.
There is a serious tone at the beginning of the episode as Alec and Hilaria engage in a joint therapy session. In Hilaria’s words, there is a “passionate” debate over the future of the Baldwin family. Alec wants to move away from NYC and start fresh, while Hilaria believes he simply wants to retreat and hide. The disagreement carries over into their car ride home but is soon put to rest once they return.
Hilaria shares her perspective on their post-trial and post-shooting incident life, saying she wants “more stability and lighter energy in our home.” She believes in “healing us with family and trying to reconnect with each other.”
The episode then shifts to a Baldwin family activity: a cooking class on a Hamptons farm. As the family makes pizzas, Alec reflects on his love for having a big family, explaining that he is an extrovert at heart and enjoys interacting with people.
However, the family lunch is disrupted by paparazzi, who persistently take photos of them. This has been a recurring problem for the Baldwins, which worsened after the 2021 shooting incident. Despite the annoyance, Alec chooses not to confront them—something he admits he would have done when he was younger.
Another highlight of the episode is Alec giving a tour of their East Hamptons house. He reveals that he and Hilaria have separate bathrooms, with Hilaria’s being the larger of the two. The viewer also catches a glimpse of Alec’s messy office and a giant wooden door for the bedroom hallway which is never shut. Alec also discusses his dedication to raising his children, acknowledging that pursuing an acting career can mean losing precious time with them, but he has chosen to prioritize family.
Hilaria then opens up about her concerns regarding social media’s impact on her children’s mental health, particularly her eldest daughter. She recalls her own struggles with media attention, especially when she was engaged to Alec, and admits that she is “still not used to being in the spotlight.”
A deeper layer of Alec’s personality is revealed when he discusses his OCD. “OCD is a problem for everyone else, not me,” he remarks. He reminisces about how he and his sister would clean their chaotic childhood home to make their mother happy.
The episode ends with a humorous moment: Alec notices a scratch on Hilaria’s car and immediately insists on washing it.
Overall, episode four of The Baldwins continued many themes from the third episode but focused more on the family’s life in the East Hamptons. The topics were lighter and shifted away from the 2021 shooting incident.
