A panel of councillors across the political spectrum appointed Brian Roberts as Stirling Council’s next Chief Executive, effective October 7.

With over 30 years experience in the council, starting as a trainee engineer in 1993, Roberts was appointed as Chief Operating Officer Infrastructure and Environment in 2019, and led the development of the Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal.

Stirling Council Leader Cllr Gerry McGarvey said, “Brian has the knowledge, experience and skills required to navigate the challenges faced by local government, continue the transformation of our services and seize the exciting opportunities for Stirling to make it a better place to live and work for everyone.”

“I grew up in Stirling and have been privileged to have been able to spend my whole career with the council, working in my hometown serving the people and communities of the Stirling area,” Roberts said.

Roberts has already served as interim Chief Executive twice in the last 18 months.

“I know at first-hand the dedication and talent of colleagues across the organisation. I am proud to have the opportunity to lead an amazing team that is committed to public service and improving the lives of everyone throughout the Stirling area.”
