Making a return after 8 years pop legend; Katy Perry returns to Scotland debuting her album “Lifetimes” as she soars through the crowd using a range of props and harnesses to suit her sci-fi theme.
Opener: Goldie Boutilier
First to take the stage and warm up the crowd was Canadian singer-songwriter and model; Goldie Boutilier. After releasing her third studio album ‘Goldie Boutilier presents… Goldie Montana’, the alternative/rock artist thrived during her opening set while performing hit songs such as ‘Cowboy Gangster Politician’ and ‘King of Possibilities’ recognisable from the Netflix series, ‘The Hunting Wives’
‘The Lifetimes Tour’ Review
Kicking off the highly anticipated and long awaited show, Katy opened her set with ‘ARTIFICIAL (feat. JID)’. Following from this with one of the pop-stars most popular songs ‘Chained To The Rhythm’. This particularly had fans roaring in excitement. and anticipation of what was to come next. It’s argued the show was immersive for the crowd with the dystopian visual production and choreography relating to each themed part of the show. This involved old and new songs that influenced every section, outfit change, and prop use throughout the tour.
The standards were set high with an estimated revenue of $80 million from 1.1 million tickets sold and definitely reached the expectations. Fans were specifically pleased with the immersive ‘choose your own adventure’ section of the performance, where the crowd were able to pick their own surprise song specifically for that show by voting. Although, it wasn’t just meant for fans enjoyment but also highlighted a key message about democracy. This showed what it was like to be listened to while holding the power of decision making.

Following from the ‘choose your own adventure’ segment came a heartwarming performance of ‘Double Rainbow’ dedicated to 13 year old, Ethan, who completed chemotherapy and had the chance he dreamed of by singing onstage with Perry herself. On stage along with Ethan was soon-to-be mum of 2, Lisa, and Northern Irelander, Holly, whose husband claims he would ‘leave her for Katy’ which left the audience stunned and amused.

In the final stretch of the night, Perry paraded around the stadium whilst floating on a giant butterfly as part of the dystopian themed narrative as she performed ‘Roar’ before blasting rainbow confetti canons to commence and celebrate the nights success spent with her fanbase of “KatyCats” in her final song of the night; ‘Firework’.
