Everyone all knows the staple foods and Christmas flavours that make up the iconic dinner.
But Christmas dinner only lasts a day, maybe two, so for many the real star flavours of the festive seasons are the much beloved sweet treats.
Sweet flavours come in lots of different forms besides their usual year-round looks with the most popular being flavoured syrups and cakes.

Peppermint

Name a more iconic duo chocolate and peppermint, I’ll wait.
The combination exists year-round in the likes of Mint Aero and After Eight but Christmas is when the flavours really comes out in force.

Beyond drinks there is also no shortage of minty bakes on offer with cookies being a particularly popular option.
Gingerbread

Perhaps the most ubiquitous flavour of the festive season has to be gingerbread.
With appearances on the menus of Costa, Tim Hortons and Bob and Bert’s, it’s almost hard to avoid the gingerbread.
With its distinctive cosy smell, gingerbread has become the smell of the season for many.
Gingerbread has a large presence in the world of baked goods with its namesake iced gingerbread.
There are also the famous gingerbread biscuits that can take any manner of whimsical forms depending on the creativity (and icing skills) of its decorator.
The myriad of drinks and bakes alongside the likes of candles mark gingerbread as perhaps the definitive flavour of the festive season.
Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a special flavour as it enjoys association with both Autumn and Christmas.
The cosy smell and warming taste of cinnamon lends itself to the colder seasons.
Part of the spices massive popularity is because of its versatility.
Not only can it work as a fantastic flavouring for hot drinks, it also works amazingly combined with the likes of toffee to create a sweet and cosy concoction that would warm the coldest of nights.
In the realm of baking cinnamon improves everything it’s in from scones to toffee pudding, everything is better with cinnamon.
Chocolate orange

A Christmas morning treat for many, the sweet combo is dessert perfection.
Though chocolate and orange has been a popular combo for a long time, its most popular form is the Terry’s chocolate orange.
A popular stocking stuffing for many, it becomes even better when the humble chocolate orange is added to drinks or desserts.
Popular as a cake flavouring as well as in brownies and cookies, the chocolate orange combo is as popular as it is for a very good reason.
And of course, a chocolate orange hot chocolate speaks for itself.
