Brig is invited to try Slanj-A-Va's new menu.
New look, same great vibe. Slanj-A-Va, Kilted Kangaroo’s new face invites Brig to try their new menu. It features funky and traditional Scottish themed food that will make you go back for more!
We started off our evening with some of their warm-up acts, entrees that surprised us with their taste and originality. The most eye-catching item on this part of the menu has to be the Irn Bru Chicken Tempura.
These classic tempura bites came with a tasty but not too overpowering Irn Bru chilly mayo. Although very nice, don’t expect an excessive Irn Bru taste to it.
At the time of ordering, we were recommended the Haggis Sweeties, which were my personal favourite. These croquette-like bites were crunchy on the outside but filled with delicious creamy haggis.

In addition, the drizzle and pickled onions gave these bites a sour kick which perfectly complemented the haggis.
For their main, or as their menu describes them, “Hame Comforts,” we decided to go with the classic Ghillie Chicken.
A delicious chicken breast stuffed with haggis and accompanied by what I can only describe as the best tasting potatoes I have ever had. These potatoes came crushed rather than mashed and buttered to perfection. Definitely a fun twist to an already delicious dish.
The Wallace Nachos made for a great sharing platter, served with cheese, salsa, sour cream, jalapeños, haggis and pepper sauce. A Scottish twist to the classic Mexican nachos, these nachos will surprise you for their original taste.

As for dessert, we of course, had to go with the classic Deep Fried Mars bar. A classic served with tablet ice cream and once again an Irn Bru drizzle. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

Our meal was accompanied by two of their drinks from their cocktail menu.
A cherry Tangfastics cocktail and a Watermelon Wipeout, a cocktail served in a VK bucket.
Although both drinks were delicious, I have to admit the cherry tangfasctics cocktail was no doubt my favourite drink.

The Scottish pub has also launched their new T for a tenner deal. Every week Monday to Friday (11am-5pm) .They will be offering five dishes from their menu for ten pounds each, with rotating mains every week.
In addition to their great new menu, the pub still offers a great deal of events throughout the week.
Their events range from Monday evening- Acoustic Lassie’s (with Jodie Differ & Amy Gunn), to Wednesday- Quiz (With Adam) and much more!
