Stirling Clansmen – 57
Glasgow Tigers – 7
First Quarter
On Senior Day, the Clansmen started strong, holding Glasgow to a three and out on their opening drive.
Stirling’s offence continued their defence’s strong start by passing for two first downs and running to put themselves in the redzone. After a quarterback scramble and a short run, the ball was caught by Maxwell Mackison for the first score of the game. Stirling got the two-point conversion, passing to Joshua Johnson Mitchell, who was wide open.
Glasgow made some progress in their passing game, while Stirling continued to suffocate their run game. The Tigers decided to go for it on fourth down in Clansmen territory, and their pass was both caught and ran in for a touchdown.
Stirling’s offence returned to the field, running for a first down before attempting to run the ball again, this time on fourth down, where the Tigers dragged Stirling’s running back to the ground to take back possession.
Glasgow’s offence wasn’t anymore productive on their next drive, where they got strip-sacked by Yaser Lamsatfi Hanafi and forced to punt again.
Second Quarter
The Clansmen’s run game continued to dominate, putting them within the 10 and then eventually in the end zone thanks to Ethan Ayo.
Still struggling, the Tigers punted the ball away after an inconsequential drive.
Stirling took the ball and immediately ran it into Glasgow’s territory. The Tigers started to anticipate that the Clansmen would run the ball, and after a decent stop from Glasgow, Stirling threw to Ben Grove who shoved his way in for a touchdown.
After receiving yet another punt from Glasgow, the Clansmen passed for a first down and ran for another one. They made some more progress downfield, before a short pass forced them to go for it on fourth down where their run came up short of the first.
The Tigers fumbled their next punt, which was recovered by Rory Kay to put Stirling’s offence in the red zone.
A penalty pushed Stirling back to the 20 yard line, and after an incomplete pass, Johnny Taylor found Ben Grove for his second touchdown of the day.
Glasgow’s offence returned to the field, getting their first first down of the day from a penalty, and their second. The Tiger’s quarterback scrambled under pressure before throwing to put Glasgow in the red zone. Eventually, they went for it on fourth and goal, and didn’t get it, allowing the Clansmen one last chance to score before halftime.
Stirling returned to the field deep in their own red zone, where they threw the ball to Joshua Johnson-Mitchell who took it over 80 yards to the house.
Third Quarter
The Clansmen received the second half kickoff, which they ran back to Glasgow’s 20 yard line, before Ben Grove came down with the ball in the end zone.
Glasgow continued to struggle and punted the ball back to Stirling, who threw for Ben Grove’s fourth touchdown of the day.
Stirling’s next possession started at their own 30 yard line, where Johnny Taylor faked a handoff to his running back before running down the sideline all the way to the end zone.
Fourth Quarter
Glasgow returned to the field, managing to pass for a first down before throwing an interception. Stirling took the ball and made no progress before dropping a pass that was recovered by the Tigers.
Glasgow fumbled the snap on a critical third down, forcing their quarterback to fall on the ball. That set them back a few yards, yet they still went for it on fourth down, which they did not get as Willie Stevens sacked their quarterback.
Stirling’s offence took the field at their own 45-yard line, and got pushed forward ten yards due to a penalty on defence, before Glasgow picked off the Clansmen.
The Tigers went for it on 4th and two which they managed to convert to put them in Stirling’s territory. The Clansmen got a second chance after they intercepted Glasgow in the end zone and took the field at their own 25-yard line.
Stirling continued making solid progress downfield before the final whistle; which for many of the Clansmen will be their final whistle at Gannochy.
