“Chemistry For Two” at The Alchemist’s Cocktail Masterclass on Valentine’s Day

2 mins read

If Valentine’s Day is about shared experiences, then The Alchemist’s Cocktail Masterclass offers something far more memorable than flowers or chocolates. The Alchemist is a bar notorious for theatrical displays and drinks served in unconventionally shaped glasses. Some locations include Glasgow City Centre and Edinburgh St James Quarter. This Valentine’s Day, why not try mixing up your own cocktail?

Popular drinks are served with dry ice to create smoke or paired with potions that change colour. If you’re not a fan of boring glasses, some drinks come served in oyster shells, a bong or even a hip flask that you get to keep afterwards! Classic cocktails are also available.

The masterclass is available from February 11 to 15. It’s around £20 per person and 45 minutes long. Each person gets to make one drink from the menu provided, including some fan favourites from the usual The Alchemists menu.

I chose to make a cocktail with popping candy and a rubber tongue for garnish called “The French Kiss.”

Although the masterclass focuses primarily on drinks, you can order food afterwards. They offer snacking options as opposed to a full dining experience unless you book in advance during busier periods.

The Alchemist’s Masterclass is an ideal icebreaker for a first date, long-term partner or Galentine’s Day celebration.

If you’re trying to save money this Valentine’s Day, host your own cocktail masterclass at home. The Alchemist have compiled their favourite cocktail recipes into a book available to buy. Alternatively, you can get creative and use your imagination!

Pancake Day!

If you dislike alcohol or just really love sugar, then The Alchemist offers a brunch menu during the day, including pancakes and French toast. Pancake Day is coming up on Tuesday, 17 February, so get your reservations made now.

Top Tip – The Alchemist make birthdays extra special for you if you tell them it’s an important occasion.
