The most anticipated night in the industry of cinema is only hours away. But, after months of back-and-forth from The Academy, tonight’s proceeding will be watched under microscopic scrutiny.

Firstly, Kevin Hart’s scandal, which saw the comedian step down as host after homophobic tweets resurfaced and Hart offered a non-apology, marks the first time in 30 years that ceremony will be host-less. This choice has made fans of the ceremony perplexed about whether or not it is really going to work out.

This is not the only unsuccessful decision taken by the Academy this year. They previously announced that the awards for Cinematography, Editing, Live Action Short, Make Up and Hairstyling will be given during the commercial breaks, in order to cut down the time of the show to under three hours. Yet, thanks to a petition signed by famous directors such as Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Spike Lee and many others; the Academy decided to change the event’s schedule and give those awards in their traditional live slot.

Another downside for music fans, Kendrick Lamar and SZA will not perform the song “All The Stars” from Black Panther due to logistics and timing. Then again, all the other four songs nominated will be performed during the show. Adam Lambert and Queen will open the show, however after Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody collected five nominations.

Now that you know everything there is to know about the show, it’s time to get ready for it.

The red carpet will start at 10pm, followed by the live show that will take place at 1am (British time). E!’s red carpet coverage will be simulcast on Sky Cinema Oscars and on Now TV (for those who don’t have an account, you can take advantage of the 14 day long free trial to watch the show).

CNN entertainment released their 2019 Oscar Night ballot to keep you and your friends entertained (and awake) during the show. A full list of nominees, which sees Roma and The Favourite lead the pack, with Black Panther and A Star is Born hot on their heels, can be found here.

If you are afraid you are not going to make it through the night or you just can’t be bothered to watch the whole show, Brig have got you covered. We’ll be posting all the winners live tonight through our Instagram Story.
