King Cons: Stirling’s newest bar opens on King Street

3 mins read

A new aesthetic bar, King Cons, has opened up on King Street late September, replacing the infamous Tingle Bar.

King Cons is not a stand alone business; it is actually the sister bar to Oscar’s Wine Bar in the Stirling Arcade.

Oscar’s has been successful since opening, so there are high expectations for the new venue.

Immediately walking into the bar there is a very inviting atmosphere with loads of tables, seats and booths available.

Lightwood accents throughout help to make the place feel very spacious and airy even when full of customers.

Neon lights in the form of fun Scottish idioms decorate the walls, including “Gie it Laldy.”

The pink lights paired with the spacious interior gave a pop of colour which makes it feel more lively.

Pendulum lighting and lots of green plants hang from the ceiling above the table, creating a cosy atmosphere.

A DJ booth is next to stairs at the back where there is even more seating available for customers.

King Cons has the sophisticated feel of Oscar’s, however, it seems like this is a place targeted to a younger audience.

Price wise, it is reasonable for the type of bar this is. I ordered a double vodka plus mixer which came to £6. Although it isn’t as inexpensive as some places, the price is decent for a bar that doesn’t primarily serve students.

On weekdays, students are encouraged to come along.

King Cons have posted a discounted price list Sunday to Thursday which may help bring in a student audience.

A Facebook post by the bar states: “Although there is no food menu yet, the Bar has said they are looking to serve food. Our food menu is launching mid October and we have a treat for you there. Think chicken wings, chicken and waffles, loaded fries, real Dirty Scran.”

King Cons have also said that they “will be offering weekly quiz nights, karaoke, open mic, DJ’s, sports. Something for everyone, something Stirling needs.”

The bar have released special dates on their Instagram page for what is happening this October.

This includes a quiz night every Monday, and karaoke on Thursdays.

Although the current bar hours are not yet known, on weekends they are open until 1am.

Anyone searching for a fantastic place to have drinks with friends that has a welcoming staff and a great atmosphere should definitely check out this bar.
