Spotify Wrapped 2022: the sixteen music personalities

8 mins read

Spotify has a new feature on its yearly Spotify that categorises you into a music personality based on your listening habits. But what does it mean? What are they? And what does yours say about you? Let us discuss this.

This music personality is very similar to the sixteen personality traits of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It has four traits that make up the types and the sixteen that everyone falls into.

What are the traits that make up the types?

Familiarity (F) or Exploration (E)

The first is based on how you listen to artists – do you listen to the same artists? (categorised as Familiarity) or do you venture and listen to a variety of new artists? (categorised as Exploration)

Loyalty (L) or Variety (V)

The second is based on your loyalty to the music and artists you listen to. Do you listen to the same tracks on repeat? (categorised as Loyalty) or do you prefer a variety? (categorised as Variety).

Timelessness (T) or Newness (N)

The third is based on your relationship with new music. Do you listen to new artists and tracks when they just come out? (called Newness) or do you listen to music from all times? (called Timelessness).

Commonality (C) or Uniqueness (U)

The last is based on how unique a listener you are. Do you listen to popular artists with millions of other fans? (Commonality) or do you like artists who are more underground with fewer fans? (Uniqueness).
