Andrew Scott breaks Critics Award record

1 min read

Andrew Scott has recently made history as he becomes the first to be named Best Actor by critics twice in the same year. He has been awarded this title for his work in the National Theatre play Vanya as well as his leading role in the film All of Us Strangers.

Despite being monumentally snubbed this awards season, critics have recognised Scott’s talent in his performance as Adam in All of Us Strangers. The film is beloved by fans who found it a very profound, moving story. Although, it was largely ignored during the awards season – excluding a sweep at the BIFA.

Vanya is a one-man stage adaptation of the classic play by Andre Chekhov which was also held in very high regard by critics. It is not the first time Scott has taken the stage with 29 theatre productions under his wing. The talent needed to take on a one-man play is undeniable, and critics have rightfully rewarded this.

With a pretty lengthy filmography and a large amount of theatre work filled with iconic characters, we can only say we’re not surprised. Congratulations, Andrew!
