Initial casting has been announced for the 2024/25 UK and Ireland tour of Hairspray.
Neil Hurst takes to the stage as Edna Turnblad. His theatre credits include The Full Monty (national tour) and Early Doors Live (UK arena tour).
Joining him onstage as Velma Von Tussle will be Gina Murray until September 9 with Strictly’s Joanne Clifton (who was recently seen playing Princess Fiona in the UK tour of Shrek) taking on the role for the remainder of the shows.
Breakout star Solomon Davy will star as heart-throb Link Larkin following his professional and West End debut as Kenickie in Grease. His other credits include Prince Charming in Cinderella and Christian in Clueless The Musical.
The lead role of Tracy Turnblad will be performed by Alexandra Emmerson-Kirby in her professional debut.
Other names taking to the stage are Michelle Ndegwa (Motormouth Maybelle), Declan Egan (Corny Collins), Katlo (Little Inez), Reece Richards as Seaweed and Allana Taylor as Amber von Tussle.
The production will be directed by Brenda Edwards (Loose Women, We Will Rock You) who previously played Motormouth Maybelle. She will direct alongside Paul Kerryson.
