A number of University of Stirling societies, including Poetry and Nat20, have teamed up for a series of Creative Change events on campus this March-April, in partnership with Global Justice Stirling.
“Imagine a future free of injustice”
Organisers said, “The injustices of this world are interlinked; there can be no climate justice without migrant justice. We need art to heal and imagine a future free of injustice.”
“Thus, we decided to organise a series of art events culminating in an evening of performances, centred around environmental and social change. The ultimate goal is to raise money for better scholarships for refugees and asylum seekers. Additionally, we want to promote a petition to support the Fossil Fuel Non-proliferation Treaty Initiative”.
The Events
Events commenced on Tuesday, Mar 26 with a Zine Making Workshop in Cottrell. Attendees learned the basics of zine-making from writing to artwork.
Following this, tomorrow (Friday, Mar 29) there will be an Arts and Crafts Social in Cottrell 2A7 at 7 pm. Students are encouraged to join in and make some t-shirts and postcards and have a wee chat.
Nat20 (Dungeons & Dragon Society) will be hosting a Heritage of The Lost event (C.2A13, 7 pm) on Thursday, April 4. Proceeds from the beginner-friendly session will go towards the Scottish Refugee Council.
A Nat20 rep stated, “We believe dungeons and dragons has the power to tell all types of stories that are even if it’s through a fantasy lens. Our collaboration with the global justice society will bring new players to the game while showing a powerful and very real experience”
Ahmed, president of the UOS Poets Society, said, “We are thrilled to participate in this impactful and momentous initiative. We strongly believe in the power of unity and collaboration to address social and global inequalities. The initiative, led by Global Justice and other societies, demonstrates the significant potential of collective student action in tackling global injustices.”
“Let’s stand together, united in our resolve to confront the injustices of the world. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and create a more equitable and just society for all.”
“These performances can be about anything you believe relates to social change”
The events will culminate in a Live Show on April 10. Artists are encouraged to get involved with performances centred on social change.
The official poster reads, “The live show is currently accepting submissions of 2D art or 5-minute short performances. Anyone who participates can also use this as a qualifying event for the Green Leaf add-on to their My Stirling Award”.

If interested, artists are encouraged to sign up via. the link in Global Justice Stirling’s Instagram bio.
All events are for the causes of fossil fuel non-proliferation and the Scottish Refugee Council.
