BBC Radio 2 Festival coming to Stirling this summer

BBC Radio 2 in the Park is coming to City Park in Stirling this August, from Friday 7 to Sunday 9.

The annual festival is the station’s flagship live music event.

It brings some of the biggest UK and international artists to small cities across the UK that do not often get the opportunity to host major cultural events.

Across the three-day festival, major musicians and Radio 2’s presenters will perform across three stages City Park, which sits beneath Stirling Castle.

The station – which is the UK’s most listened-to radio station with a weekly audience of 12.7 million- will also broadcast the festival on Radio 2, BBC Sounds and iPlayer.

The event follows last year’s Radio 2 in the Park, which was held in Chelmsford, 2024’s event in Preston and 2023’s festival in Leicester.

Radio 2 estimates tens of Thousands of music fans will lock to Stirling, promising an unforgettable music spectacle.

In anticipation of the festival, the Wallace Monument and Tolbooth live music venue are illuminated in BBC Radio 2’s signature orange to celebrate.

Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, says: “Everyone in the Radio 2 presenter family is hugely excited to be heading to Stirling for our Radio 2 in the Park weekend.

“When they all found out together that we were going to Scotland, a cheer rang out across the room!

We’re now busy building a line-up of some of the world’s most loved artists to perform live for tens of thousands of people in the park, as well as for millions of listeners and viewers at home or on the move.

Scott Mills, who hosts the Breakfast Show, which attracts a weekly audience says: “What an absolute treat for Radio 2 in the Park to land in Scotland this summer!

“Every time I’ve DJed in Scotland, I’ve received the warmest welcome, so 1 truly cannot wait for what promises to be the most brilliant weekend in August

“A Scottish crowd is the best crowd. Stirling – we’re coming for you!”

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Susan McGill, said: “We can’t wait to welcome fans and artists to our amazing city for an unforgettable celebration of world-class live music set against the stunning backdrop of Stirling Castle.

“While Stirling has a proud track record of successfully staging major music events, Radio 2 in the Park will be our biggest one yet – so this is incredibly exciting news and a huge boost for the city and the wider region. We will see you there!”

This is the first major Radio 2 live music event in Scotland since BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend in May 2018 at Scone Castle, Perth.

In 2023, Radio I’s Big Weekend took place in Camperdown Country Park in Dundee.

Further information about Radio 2 in the Park, including the full artist line-up and ticketing details, will be announced at a later date.
