Online teaching set to remain until April

1 min read

Online teaching for undergraduate students is set to remain in place until 13 April, a university announcement has confirmed.

This comes after the First Minister’s recent announcement where she confirmed lockdown restrictions will remain in place until at least the end of the month.

In their announcement the university said: “we believe it is helpful to confirm now that learning and teaching will continue online for the remaining few weeks of the spring semester.”

“I realise that you may be disappointed by this news, however, I know you will appreciate that your health and wellbeing is our priority; every decision we take is informed by the Government’s latest announcements, safety measures and public health guidance.”

While teaching will remain online for the majority of students, a small number students will receive face-to-face teaching in line with government exemptions where it is required to meet their course outcomes.

The university announcement said: “Students who fall into this category – predominantly those studying on vocational programmes, such as nursing – will be contact directly by their faculty.”

In-person teaching will return as soon as it is safe to do so and when permitted.
