Stirling Council have closed part of Kenilworth Road, close to the entrance to the University of Stirling’s campus, after a sinkhole swallowed part of the tarmac.
Kenilworth Road from its junction with Sheriffmuir Road to its junction with the A9, Airthrey Road, has now been closed.
Due to the sinkhole, a diversion has been put in place via Kenilworth Road and Well Road.
The council have placed barriers around the sinkhole while an urgent investigation gets underway.
Drivers are being advised to stay clear of the area is possible until further notice.
Stirling Council website said: “This closure is required due to a washout under the road.”
