You can’t keep a good guy down: Chucky cancelled after three seasons

Horror fans everywhere shed a few tears yesterday as it was announced that SYFY’s Chucky TV series would be shelved, killing their hopes for a fourth season.

The show was a continuation of the almost four-decade-long story of Chucky, the killer doll, which was developed and created for TV by the franchise creator Don Mancini.

Following the final episode of Chucky Season Three: Part Two, the show wasn’t renewed immediately. This spawned the #RenewChucky campaign which was backed by Don Mancini himself, as well as Jennifer Tilly, known for her role as Chucky’s bride, Tiffany.

Plans for the fourth season were pitched to SYFY, with it seeming that the fourth was to be the show’s last, which would lead into one big film to wrap up the story of the show’s core cast of characters, the “Three Amigos”.

Whilst fans have been claiming their hatred for SYFY and the USA Network, Don Mancini has had nothing but nice things to say following the cancellation.

“I’m heartbroken over the news that Chucky won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have”, Don Mancini said in a statement.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for Chucky, after all, you can’t keep a good guy down. Don Mancini finished his statement with ” Chucky will return! He ALWAYS comes back.” Giving fans just a little bit of hope that it won’t be too long till we see Chucky again.
