Five Nights at Freddy’s is Coming to Dead by Daylight

Five Nights at Freddy’s is coming to Dead By Daylight this summer, bringing with it a new map and most importantly a vicious killer fans are sure to love.

Springtrap, FNAF’s iconic antagonist, is entering the fog of Dead by Daylight. This collab has been a long time coming with fans of both franchises desiring some form of crossover for almost a decade.

Coming in with the title of ‘The Animatronic’, Springtrap occupies an interesting space within the almost forty-killer-long roster. His unique power allows him to throw a fire axe at survivors, if the axe hits a survivor it will become embedded within them.

To retrieve the axe, Springtrap can catch up to the survivor the axe is stuck in and “jump scare” them, after doing so, the survivor is put into the “downed” state meaning they can be put on a hook.

As an adapted killer, Springtrap works very well within the lore of Dead by Daylight. His horrifying mechanical appearance makes him easy to spot and terrifying to go up against, but the best part about him is how faithful he is to the lore of Five Nights at Freddy’s.

Springtrap doesn’t do anything he hasn’t been shown to be able to do before, he operates as an almost perfect adaptation that is bound to please fans when he releases this June.

Alongside his entrance to Dead by Daylight, Springtrap brings with him a couple of iconic skins. First is his undamaged look from Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted, next is an outfit inspired by Dead by Daylight’s own killer The Clown. Perhaps most excitingly is an outfit ripped right out of Blumhouse’s 2023 smash hit film adaptation, the outfit comes with new voice lines done by actor Matthew Lillard and also features his likeness.

Unfortunately, Springtrap doesn’t come with a survivor counterpart. However, he does bring with him a new map inspired by Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a prominent location from the Five Nights at Freddy’s games.
