Bridge of Allan Co-op Closing Soon To Allow Construction Of New Store

1 min read

Construction of a new Co-op supermarket is set to begin following the closure of Bridge of Allan’s current store on Saturday, 9 August.

The new store, which will take approximately 34 weeks to finish, will be two storeys and provide 25 jobs.

Development of a temporary supermarket will start in the coming weeks; however, no opening date has been offered.

This temporary store will provide newspapers, fresh food, dairy products, alcohol and ready meals, as well as a majority of other products that are currently being sold at the existing Fountain Road building.

Many of the services offered by the current Fountain Road Co-op will remain operational through the temporary store.

An ATM will be provided for use, however, home delivery services will transfer to the Causewayhead location during this time.

A leaflet that was handed out to locals in the area describes how the car park of the building will also be closed for the foreseeable future. To access the upcoming temporary store, pedestrians will have to walk along Kier Street as construction access is taken directly from Fountain Road.

Co-op will be launching a website that will allow the residents of Bridge of Allan to monitor the progress of the building, though currently, no website has been launched.
