2 mins read

Announced earlier last year, titans of the horror industry, Blumhouse, showcased the first batch of games from their video game production company, Blumhouse Games.

Best known for producing horror films like the colossal, Five Nights At Freddy’s and the bone chilling, Get Out.

Blumhouse have become the biggest horror film production company since they first opened their doors in 2000.

Branching into the video game industry makes sense. What’s scarier than horror that you’re in control of.

CEO Jason Blum described how the company is producing, “Indepedant games, we’re gonna look for creators and give them a platform and encourage these creators to be weird, and subversive, and find the most f’ed up, scariest things they can and put them into really, cool games!”

The Annoucments

A wide range of games were shown off, both in terms of genre and flavours of fear. However, no release date was given for any.

Crisol: Theater of Idols by Vermilla Studios was shown first. An Action Adventure Horror game. Taking a first person perspective, your own blood is used to fight back against the monsters that await.

Grave Seasons by Perfect Garbage was shown next. A cozy farming-sim with a monstrous horrifying twist.

Sleep Awake by Eyes Out was the most mysterious of the showcase. A first person horror game dealing with the fear of sleep.

Fear the Spotlight by Cozy Game Pals is a throwback to classic horror games. Taking on a retro aesthetic, the player navigates a school after-hours to find their friend.

The Simulation by Playmestudio sees the player act as a games developer, uncovering a mysterious police case, who knows what horror awaits.

The showcase closed with a final announcement that will get any horror fans blood pumping.

Project C from Half Mermaid, is a title being developed by Sam Barlow, games designer for Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. As well as, Brandon Cronenberg, director of Possessor and Infinity Pool.

No gameplay was shown for Project C, but fans anticipation for the horror these two are cooking up, couldn’t be more palpable.
