Residents of Alangrange student accommodation were given a one week notice to vacate the premises as the building goes under repairs.

Brig learned about the prior and following information from students who are currently residents of Alangrange.

The building will be closed from June 30 onward as the building receives largely cosmetic repairs.

Tenants of the building were given the option of moving into either Lyon Crescent in Bridge of Allan, or Polwarth, located on campus for the undetermined time that the repairs will take place.

If tenants choose to move into Polwarth they will receive a cut in rent.

However some tenants reported that they are concerned about what will happen to their belongings as they are out of the country during the time of the relocation.

When asked to provide clarity on the relocation and if tenants will be able to retrieve their belongings during the working times, a spokesperson for the University answered: “The work to Alangrange is part of ongoing and essential maintenance across the University estate and requires the building to be vacated.”

“Alternative accommodation has been offered to residents, and we are working with them to facilitate their relocation.”

“We acknowledge the inconvenience caused and continue to work with residents to meet any individual requirements and provide support.”
