Stirling University’s men’s and women’s football teams reunited for a day of mixed team games in the run-up to Freshers Week 2021.

Club President, Declan Pierce had organised for both teams to come together and play while also raising money for DigDeep.

Speaking about the event, Pierce, 22, said: “At the start of the day, I was 110% nervous but by the end it was fantastic.

“I hope we can do it year and year again.”

Club Secretary and 2’s team captain Murray Bushell, 21, said: “It’s been a good day of football. We’ve had really good weather and everyone’s had a good time.

“It’s been good to mix the teams together and integrate between the two clubs.”

The festival began the club’s semester as they prepared to welcome new freshers onto the pitch.

The two teams raised just over £100 for DigDeep, a charity that brings clean water and education to Kenya.

Ultimately, the orange team was victorious becoming the first ever champions of the festival.
