The Fairy Pools is by far the most famous tourist spot on Skye. Located on the west of Skye near Glenbrittle, the walk up to the Fairy Pools begins. This walk has been rated short with medium difficulty by IsleofSkye.com and takes around 40 minutes to complete, making it perfect for those that don’t have a lot of outdoor or hiking experience. The Fairy Pools are clear pools of water connected by waterfalls and are appropriately named; they look like something from a fairy tale.

Slightly less crowded for sightseeing is the Fairy Glen. Found near Uig, the Fairy Glen is a mystical attraction up in the hills of Skye. Located here are circles dug into the earth and surrounded by rocks, which tourists have actually left. The Fairy Glen coined its nickname due to how unusual it is, a very hilly and rocky landscape. If you do make it to the top you are awarded with a magnificent view across the glen.

Make sure to wrap up for this particular spot as even in the summer it can get chilly on this seaside cliff. Kilt Rock is an amazing opportunity for pictures and is worthwhile visiting for the view alone. Located in the northeast Trotternish Peninsula, Kilt Rock also has a small dinosaur footprint display with information on its history, making it great for kids or history fans. Parking for Kilt Rock is on the cliff itself, making it easily accessible.

Apart from tourist locations, adventuring around Skye, in general, is also rewarding thanks to the breathtaking views and scenery across the island. Skye has a lot to offer – from quaint villages to vast, open land. Take the time to explore it. Making the time to talk to some of the locals is always a good idea, as the people of Skye are generally very kind and will often know some of the best spots to visit.
