Gaming tournament to be hosted at Slanj-A-Va

2 mins read

A Super Smash Bros Ultimate tournament will be held at Slanj-A-Va on Monday 11 December. The event is hosted by Stirling University’s ESports Society.

The event costs £5 to enter and starts at 8pm with a grand prize of ‘winner takes all’. Players are also welcome to bring their own controller.

This isn’t the society’s first collaboration with Slanj-A-Va, as they have previously hosted their Mario Kart Give it a Go there. The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament will take place in their usual spot. They’ll be near the entrance and alongside the drinks bar.

What to expect at the tournament

President of the ESports Society, Joan Verdet, said: “I know players are looking forward to [this event] as unlike other tournaments we’ve ran, this prize pool is fully dependant on attendance.

“The more friends you bring over, the higher your chances of cashing out big!”

Unfortunately, the event is running around exam season. However, the society are confident that students will attend and take a much-needed rest from studying. They are giving students a chance to put down the books and engage in some friendly competition for a night.

Joan said: “Considering we’re in the midst of exams and deadlines, we’re a bit concerned about attendance levels.

“We hope this event offers a much-needed respite from studies, providing a well-deserved and enjoyable break with friends and fellow society members.”

This event is open to everyone, you don’t have to be in the society to attend.

“Everyone is invited to join in the fun, regardless of whether you’re part of the society, a university student, or a seasoned Smash player from around Stirling,” said Joan.

“We’re looking forward to a great turnout and an exciting event!”
