The Complete University Guide 2023 has voted Stirling as the safest student city in Scotland. Stirling was followed up by Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Data from crime rates helped decide this award. Domestic burglary, robbery of personal property, and violence with injury are lower in Stirling compared to other Scottish cities.
This report is useful for parent and carers. It is a huge worry when sending your children off to university. You worry about their health and wellbeing, and for most it is there first time living alone.
This vote shows an already praised university (with student dissertations often winning awards), is also a safe learning environment.
Comment from the Complete University Guide
Professor Amanda Chetwynd, Chair of the Complete University Guide Advisory Board, said: “The Complete University Guide is the trusted and independent gold standard for university rankings in the UK and has helped countless students choose the university and the subjects that are right for them.

“While invaluable, the league tables only tell part of the story. Our Complete University Guide safety rankings provide an additional layer of information to help students make the right choices.
“Today’s publication is great news for students who have yet another piece of important information to consider when making choices about their university.
“We know that thousands of students each year make a choice about where to do their studies based on a desire for that big city experience. That is why cities across Scotland continue to attract students year on year.
“The new crime ranking from the Complete University Guide will help potential students weigh up their options with as much information as possible and make the right decision for them based on the university experience they want.”
With plenty of cities across the country attracting students, this report is huge for Stirling. To read more of the Complete University Guide, click here.
