British indie-rock band Sundara Karma announced their split last week after 12 years together. The split comes after the group decided that it was time to “explore new things”.
Known best for hits such as She Said and Flame, both from their 2017 album Youth is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect, Sundara have been delivering hit after hit to fans with more than 380,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Their Spotify biography now reads “loving you always & forever”.
Sundara Karma are known for their eccentric performances that shake the roofs of any venue they perform at. Fans have always arrived to their gigs ready and full of energy to jump and dance around for entire shows.
The quartet brought something special, unique, and cherished to the indie scene. Their songs are unlike most other indie artists’. They never seem to age, preserved in an ever-youthful haze of nostalgia.
Indigo Puff was their first-ever released single which came out more than ten years ago. The group’s latest release is their 2023 album Better Luck Next Time which they toured for last year.
The end of Sundara Karma
News of the band’s split shook their fanbase. However, it did come with a silver lining. The group have assured fans that “It’s not goodbye to music – it’s just time for us to step away from making music as Sundara Karma.”
Sundara also highlighted that the four of them remain good friends and that the split isn’t a result of a falling out.
“One thing that remains constant as we enter this new chapter is our friendship. We are, and always will be, the best of friends. The bond we’ve built over these years since starting the band as kids at school has only grown stronger, and that’s something we treasure as much as the music we’ve made together.”
Oscar, Hadyn, Ally, and Dom thanked fans for listening to and supporting Sundara Karma throughout the years at the end of the post.
For one last “hoorah” Sundara Karma will be “live for the last time”, playing in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and London in December.
Tickets for these last performances can be found here.
