School Bus Graveyard: “Stranger Things” meets “The Walking Dead”

3 mins read

School Bus Graveyard is a rapidly-growing comic on Webtoon. It follows a group of teenagers as they end up in a different dimension each night. The group must fight off monsters and try to stay alive until morning comes, all while investigating why they ended up in this dimension and how it works.

Created by Lil Red Beanie on Webtoon, School Bus Graveyard piloted on Webtoon’s Originals on July 21, 2021. Now, it has two seasons with 84 episodes total and a possible television adaptation in the works. Currently, the Webtoon has 199.5 million views and 2.6 million subscribers. It boasts a 9.9 star rating with new episodes released every Wednesday.

Before this version of School Bus Graveyard existed, an earlier pilot comic was worked on via Webtoon’s Canvas page back in the summer of 2020. This version is still available to view and fans can see how the earlier work differs from the School Bus Graveyard we know today.

Red has nurtured a 3-D and well-rounded cast of characters. Ash, the protagonist, was a high school introvert, keeping to herself before the horrors started. Now, she finds herself leading the charge, with the group looking to her for answers and a battle plan.

School Bus Graveyard has no canon relationships as of yet, although you can see chemistry building between the characters. Red doesn’t seem to favour ships within her sketches and doodles of School Bus Graveyard characters outside of the main story – you’ll find drawings of various pairings on her social media, appeasing fans of any ship.

It’s been a phenomenal journey to see the story of the cast and the very world itself expand. Each episode unravels more of the mystery while simultaneously creating more questions, leaving you hooked and scrolling for hours.

With no end in sight as the mystery continues to grow, it’ll be interesting to see what twists are around the corner.

If you haven’t already checked out School Bus Graveyard then you can do so here. It’s the perfect piece of spooky mixed with heart-warming media to delve in to this Halloween.
