Guttural rage, energy, and thumping beats are all things DITZ brings to the table.
The five-piece UK punk band are gearing up for a massive album launch coming in January. The group, who have an unconventional way of creating tracks, have announced a giant UK and EU tour for next year, following the release of their second album Never Exhale.
DITZ have breathed fresh air into the UK’s punk scene and their work has not gone unnoticed, praised by The Clash, Pitchfork 7.3, Loud & Quiet, and Pop Matters.
Space/Smile
Their latest single, Space/Smile, serves as a sample of what listeners can expect in their upcoming album.
Space/Smile sits as the third song on the album’s track list. It brings in floods of raw energy, never slowing down and pushing like an unstoppable force. If it’s an accurate sample of what’s to come then fans are in for a treat.
C.A Francis (vocals) lets the lyrics rip from their soul while their bandmates match their energy on the instrumental.
Space/Smile progresses from a heated passion into white-hot rage as it cumulates to an almost feral end.
DITZ announce new album
Never Exhale carries on from Space/Smile and serves as a cumulation of DITZ’s journey and their work so far. This album shows the progression of this band’s musical career and celebrates their unique way of song making.
Releasing music and recording it in a traditional setting are not at the forefront of DITZ’s concerns. It’s not uncommon for the group to play pieces live and tweak them throughout shows before they are ever officially released. They allow audiences a peak into their musical process, letting people see where a song started and how it ends up where it does.
Much of Never Exhale was recorded between touring. The band were offered a support tour with IDLES during the making of this album. Borrowed and donated (often by the bands they played with the previous night) rehearsal spaces allowed the group to build up this album while on the move.
Never Exhale tackles themes of politics, unnecessary hatred and division, personal demons, and more which reveal themselves throughout re-listens of the album. DITZ hasn’t stopped to catch their breath while fleshing out this album.
The ten-track album releases on 24 January 2025.
