The former British Home Stores lot, connected to the Thistles Centre, has been put up for auction. The lot, located at 8 – 14 Murray Place, has been vacant for eight years since the chain went into administration.
Agents believe that the outlet has the potential to attract more foot traffic to Stirling’s city centre. Suggestions for what it could be renovated to include gyms, food halls, or a hotel as interest from the leisure sector is predicted.
The building covers more than 20,000 square feet and includes five storeys.
Currently, the guide price sits at £175,000.
BHS went into administration back in 2016 and was sold by Sir Philip Green for £1.
BidX, the listing site, said: “The property was most recently operated by British Home Stores and is arranged with an open-plan sales area on the ground floor with further sales areas, restaurant and storage across the upper floors.
“The site has frontages onto Murray Place in the heart of Stirling Town Centre. The main customer entrance would be off Murray Place, with secondary access and servicing taken through the rear of the service yard.
“Should an occupier be interested in securing access directly from this unit into The Thistles Shopping Centre, this would currently be possible on separate negotiation with the centre owner.”
The empty BHS store had previously been listed for sale back in July this year by Graham and Sibbald.
An auction date has been set for November 21 and will run from 10 am until 11:44 am.
