40-22
The Philadelphia Eagles won an overwhelming victory at this year’s Super Bowl against Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. The Chiefs had previously won the Super Bowl four times – in 1970, 2020, 2023, and 2024. The Eagles managed to keep the Chiefs pointless for nearly three full quarters as they dominated the Super Bowl 59.
The first quarter was tense for Chiefs fans. The Eagles scored a touchdown and an extra point within the first few minutes of the game, earning them seven points. Staying on a winning streak, Eagles’ Cooper DeJean intercepted a pass from Patrick Mahomes and made it 38 yards to bag a touchdown. The Eagles racked up 17 points before the Chiefs called a time-out near the end of the quarter. At the end of the first quarter, the Chiefs had yet to score.
During the meat of the second quarter, no points were scored by either side. Yet, with one minute 35 seconds left, Eagles’ A.J. Brown secured a touchdown taking the score to 23-0 to the Eagles. An extra point was also scored, ending the second quarter at 24-0.
The third quarter went much the same. The Eagles scored three points from a field goal as the Chiefs failed to take control of the game. Notably, Chiefs’ Mahomes was up to five sacks at the end of the third quarter. With under three minutes left of the third quarter, Eagles’ DeVonta Smith made a touchdown. An extra point was won, taking the score to 34-0. Shortly after, the Chiefs managed to make it past half-field. Chiefs’ Xavier Worthy scored a touchdown with 34 seconds left, ending the third quarter with a score of 34-6.
In the final quarter, Chiefs’ fans had lost almost all hope that the team would win a record three-in-a-row Super Bowls. The Eagles scored an additional three points on a field goal in the beginning of the final quarter, and bagged another three points shortly after. The score now sat at 40-6 and the Chiefs finally brought some fire to their play. Chiefs’ DeAndre Hopkins scored a touchdown with just under three minutes left of the game, earning the Chiefs an extra two-point conversion and taking the score to 40-14. After catching a long-pass from Mahomes, Worthy nailed another touchdown and two-point conversion, taking the score to 40-22.
The game ended before time was up, with KC Chiefs not wanting to allow Philadelphia Eagles another chance to score, they admitted defeat. The Eagles celebrated a well-earned victory after they dominated the game, while the Chiefs looked disappointed and defeated.
