Students back Brown to continue as VP Education in by election

The results of the by election which was held to elect sabbatical officer position of Vice President Education for the next academic year been announced.

Calum Brown, who is the incumbent, has been re-elected to serve as Vice President Education for the 2022/23 academic year.

Brown was elected with 99 votes, compared to 14 votes for re open nominations.

The by election was called after there were no candidates for the position at the annual student union elections which are held in March.

Brown will join Jess Reid (Vice President Communities elect), Tash Miller (Union President elect) and Murray Bushell (Sports President elect) who were all elected to their roles at the annual union elections last month.

Commenting on the result, Brown described it as an “incredible honour” to be re-elected to the role for the next academic year and said that was “really excited” to work with the other incoming sabbatical officers who start their roles on June 1, of this year

Looking ahead, Brown said “There’s a lot to do this summer, from education to engagement and i look forward to working on these areas”

Brown concluded “I would also like to thank everyone who has supported me recently , as well as the students who trust me to continue as Vice President Education”
