University of Stirling Freshers Week explained

6 mins read

The University of Stirling Freshers Week returns to campus this September, here is everything you need to know ahead of freshers week this semester.

What is Freshers week?

Freshers week is a week of scheduled activities to get students aquatinted with the Students’ Union and life as a university student. The activities are diverse and occur both in the evening and during the day. This year freshers week will begin on September 10 with activities happening throughout the month. Events are ticketed with students requiring either an F pass or a ticket to attend each event.

Who can attend a Freshers week event?

Events during Freshers week are open to all students regardless of degree programme and year of study.

What is an F pass?

“F passes” are fabric based wristbands that allow access to all the night time events held by the Students’ Union throughout Freshers week, without having to purchase individual tickets for each event. F passes cost £50 and can save you money if you plan on attending every event. F passes are finite though, and once every F pass has been sold, the offer is gone.

The passes also have a specified entry time which everyone with an F pass must be present at the event before that time. After the specified time you may not be allowed to go to the event and you will not receive a refund for the event. Those students who purchase an F pass will also be provided with a white T-shirt for free, which you can wear to the “Official Freshers White T-Shirt Welcome Party”.

Where and when can I buy tickets for the events?

This year all tickets and F passes are available to purchase via the Stirling Students’ Union website linked here. The Stirling Students’ Union website is the only official outlet for tickets or F passes. Tickets and F passes go on sale via the website at 10am on Monday August 15. Students are only permitted to buy one ticket per student per event.

Where do I collect my tickets or F pass?

Tickets or an F pass will be required in order to enter events. If you purchase an F pass or a ticket online, you can pick up your tickets or F pass at the Lochside Marquee on campus between the hours of 10am until 4pm on September 10, 2022. Alternatively, you can get your tickets on the evening of the event which you plan to attend before the stated start time or during the day at the Lochside Marquee throughout the week.

When you collect your tickets or F pass, students are asked to bring some form of photographic ID such as passport/driving license/PASS card/Young Scot NEC. Tickets can only be collected by the individual whose name was used to purchase the tickets on the Students’ Union website. This is different from the name of the cardholder which was used to pay for the purchase

Other things to note

  • The union food and drink outlets do not accept cash.
  • Students will have to show their student ID via the University of Stirling app or the physical student ID card to enter Union Freshers events.
  • If you remove your F pass from your wrist, it becomes invalid and take your tickets to the event which you wish to attend if you have purchased a ticket.
  • If you have particular accessibility requirements, students are advised to contact the Students’ Union via email by emailing theunion@stir.ac.uk.

Ahead of passes and tickets going on sale, a Union spokesperson commented: “We are so excited to welcome new and returning students to the Union during Freshers/Welcome Week.

“We’ve put together a range of events to suit a variety of interests that will provide a chance to meet new people, party, laugh and have fun.

“F Passes provide a great way to ensure you don’t miss out and offer a great saving across the week. Building on student feedback, we’re also offering individual tickets for events online in advance.

“Passes and tickets and limited so check out the full info on what’s happening and how you can get involved on the Union website . Passes and tickets go on sale from 10am on Monday 15th August.”
