In a new trailer for the football-based video game, it has been revealed that characters from the Apple TV show Ted Lasso will be available for players to select within the game.
The central plot of Ted Lasso which stars Emmy award-winning actors is about a football coach named Ted Lasso as he tries to enable a fictional British football team AFC Richmond to achieve some success. The show began streaming on Apple TV in 2020 and has so far produced three seasons whilst a third is currently in production
Those who play FIFA 23 will be able to select to play at the fictional stadium Nelson Road which features in the show as well as manage teams including but not exclusively AFC Richmond as the central character Ted Lasso. Players from the fictional team such as Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt will also be available in the game.
Commenting on the announcement, Brett Goldstein who plays AFC Richmond player Roy Kent in the show said that he looks forward to “beating my nephew in a game with me as Roy Kent and him as Jamie Tartt”
Jason Sudeikis who plays the central character Ted Lasso and also created the show described the announcement as a “dream come true” and said that everyone on the show is “flattered” that the show “resonates with so many folks”
Sudeikis added “We look forward to our fans having the opportunity to play with, play as, and even play against their favourite AFC Richmond characters”
