Brig’s guide to food at Stirling Uni

6 mins read

Whether you’re a new student or just unsure of what’s going on around campus due to the recent RAAC discoveries, there are still plenty of options for food at Stirling Uni.

In the Students Union

With the upper level of the Union now closed, there’s been a bit of a shake-up – but don’t worry, you can still get curly fries and a pint.

Underground

Starbucks (aka Underground) is still business as usual on the lower floor.

Hot drinks, snacks, and lunch options are available as well as tables to eat and study at.

The coffee is the best on campus, in my opinion – and it’s the only place that does iced drinks unless you want to trek to Nourish in the Sports Centre!

Open: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.

Venue and Long Bar

As Studio, the Union bar, is closed due to the RAAC situation, food and drinks are now available downstairs.

Food: Monday to Friday 11am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday noon to 6.30pm.

Drinks: Monday to Friday 11am to 11pm, Saturday and Sunday noon to 7pm.

Across Stirling Uni campus

There is plenty on offer from university-managed outlets across campus too, from the Pathfoot building to Willow Court.

The Bite

Just inside the main Cottrell entrance, the Bite is ideal for grabbing a quick coffee on the way to lectures, as well as breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Open: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.

Scran

Scran is a staple if you are hanging out in the Atrium. Hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and baked potatoes are available.

The menu is currently limited however as some of the kitchen is closed.

Open: Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 8pm.

Sup

The whole menu here is plant based, so Sup is perfect if you’re vegan or want to try eating less animal products. Hot and cold drinks, soup and a deli bar are usually on offer.

Open: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm.

Macrobert

In the downstairs of Campus Central, you can find the university cinema.

Along with moviegoing classics like popcorn, the café bar serves a variety of hot meals.

Open: Monday to Sunday 10am till late.

Nourish

Inside the sports centre, Nourish is there for all your pre and post-workout needs.

Various meals, snacks and smoothies are available.

Open: Monday to Friday 7am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 8pm.

Refresh

Did you know there’s a fully licensed bar on the bottom floor of Willow Court accommodation?

If you live on campus, you don’t even need to leave to grab a pint and watch some sports.

The menu is American-style, with pizza, burgers and chips.

Open: Monday to Sunday 11am to 10pm.

Umami

The noodle bar in the INTO building is currently closed but is set to reopen on October 2, according to the student bulletin. Stayed tuned for opening hours.

Pathfood

On the other side of campus, the dining hall in Pathfoot will save you the trek to Cottrell for your lunch.

There’s something new every day of the week: Mexican Mondays, Italian Tuesdays, curry Wednesdays, tastes of Asia Thursdays and chip shop Fridays.

Plus, they have real cutlery and plates – there’s nothing worse than struggling with a flimsy wooden fork and knife when you just want to eat your lunch ASAP.

Open: Monday to Friday 11:30am to 2:30pm.

The Pod

Also in Pathfoot, the Pod in the Crush Hall offers hot drinks, lighter lunches and snacks.

Open: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Food trucks

Two new food trucks popped up in Queen’s Court for welcome week and it looks like they’re here to stay for the time being.

The Boardwalk has sandwiches, salads and croissants to grab and go, whilst Hawker is offering Mexican-inspired nachos and burritos.

Open: Monday to Friday 11am to 3pm.

Haldane’s

Haldane’s is back in business on the ground floor at Lochside. They’ve got burgers, chips and daily specials.

Open: Monday to Friday 11am to 8pm.

Campus supermarket

Stirling’s campus shop may no longer be a Co-op, but it still has all the essentials and a Pret coffee machine.

Open: Monday to Friday 7am to midnight, Saturday and Sunday 8am to midnight.
